4/15/2010 - LASER EUROPA CUP 2010 - DAY ONE
Two races scheduled, two races regularly completed with a good South wind, everything ok. Nothing strange, isn't it Circolo Vela Torbole?
It all could seem normal, but we are talking about che first day of the Europa Cup Laser, the italian stage of the european jurney of the Olimpic dinghy for the first time at Torbole, lake Garda. Not exactly the easiest regatta to be organized...
470 entries from 34 nations: the strongest foreigner and italian sailors, with many local athlets too, partecipating in a regatta that could even look like a world championship if it wasn't Laser class, the most popular boat all over the world.
A great success in participation, proving that sailors well know and appreciate lake Garda's climate and hosting availability, as well as the good experience of local Clubs in organizing sail racings. All this make the northern part of lake Garda one of the best place for the top-level sailing events.
The two complex courses took up almost all the Trentino side of the lake, the boats on shore occupied every possible corner of the Club, and not only.
And after the last arrivals, when the hard work of registrations was concluded, the legendary lake Garda South Wind "Ora" couldn't betray, not in this occasion. Here she came, on time and strong all over the lake, reaching 20 knots. And it has been spectacular!
