Nago-Torbole, Sull’Alto lago di Garda si è conclusa una tre giorni di vela particolarmente appassionante dal punto di vista agonistico: in occasione della ventunesima edizione del Meeting della classe Europa organizzata dal Circolo Vela Torbole, 130 partecipanti provenienti da 13 nazioni, hanno dato vita a 9 regate che hanno deciso il podio solo dopo l’ultima prova. Il Garda Trentino nel week end si è sembrato improvvisamente risvegliare dato che nel giro di pochi giorni si è man mano popolato di vele delle più svariate classi e provenienti da diversissime nazioni: chi in allenamento, chi in regata, chi per divertimento. Il vento e il territorio, patrimonio prezioso per i velisti, fanno del Garda Trentino sempre più una meta fissa per gli appassionati di vela e il Circolo Vela Torbole, anche in questa occasione si è messo a disposizione per organizzare un evento di livello per chi vuole regatare in questo tratto di lago baciato da un vento che non smette mai di stupire. E’ così che la classe Europa, pressochè scomparsa in Italia, ma attiva in molti stati europei, per il ventunesimo anno è tornata a Torbole per un appuntamento che è diventato uno tra i più prestigiosi di questa deriva singola, ex olimpica femminile. Il tempo variabile ha fatto si che ci fossero condizioni diverse durante le tre giornate di regata: dal vento da sud fino a 16 nodi del primo giorno con freddo pungente, al nord ben più leggero del secondo e finalmente al sole con nuovamente vento da sud sugli 11 nodi nella giornata finale. Dal punto di vista agonistico dal secondo giorno si è accesa una bella sfida: se dopo il primo giorno sembrava che il norvegese Johan non avesse rivali considerati l’infilata di tre primi, nel secondo si è fatto prepotentemente avanti il ceko Sivy, che a sua volta con tre primi l’ha superato. Ma il norvegese ha ben reagito all’attacco e nell’ultima giornata ha realizzato nuovamente tre primi, che gli hanno permesso di superare e battere di 1 solo punto l’avversario, che nella terza giornata nella propria batteria aveva chiuso con due primi e un secondo. Decisamente forte la danese Anna Livbjerg, che ha mantenuto la terza posizione assoluta, senza farsi raggiungere dagli avversari della categoria maschile, che anzi hanno perso terreno in termini di punti. La danese ha preceduto sul podio di categoria la connazionale Bentzen (tredicesima assoluta) e la spagnola Llargués (28^). Buona rimonta dell’italiano Francesco Zugna (CDV Muggia), che grazie ad un bel terzo parziale conquistato nel secondo giorno, era risalito al quindicesimo posto; con l’ultima giornata ha perso qualche punto concludendo comunque ad un’ottima diciasettesima posizione assoluta. “Sono molto soddisfatto di come sia andata questa ventunesima edizione del Meeting Europa - ha commentato il Presidente CVTorbole Montagni - le condizioni sono state varie e il Comitato di regata FIV presieduto da Pietro Benamati ha lavorato bene per riuscire in certi casi a seguire le oscillazioni del vento e quindi spostare il campo di regata o ridurre il percorso quando il vento è calato nella seconda giornata. Anche tutta la logistica e organizzazione a terra è andata molto bene”.

On the occasion of the twenty-first edition of the Europe Class Meeting organized by the Circolo Vela Torbole, 130 participants from 13 countries, have given 9 races that decided the podium only after the last one.
During the weekend, Garda Trentino seemed to wake up, as in just a few days it was gradually populated by sails from the most varied classes and from the most different nations: some in training, others in regattas, others for fun.
The wind and the territory, a precious heritage for sailors, make Garda Trentino increasingly a fixed destination for sailing enthusiasts. Furthermore Circolo Vela Torbole also on this occasion has made itself available in order to organize a superior event for those who want to race in this stretch of lake kissed by a kind of wind that never ceases to amaze.

This is how the Europe class, almost disappeared in Italy but active in many European countries, has returned to Torbole for an appointment that has become one of the most prestigious of this single, former Olympic women's drift.
The variable weather meant that there were different conditions during the three days of racing: from the south - wind up to 16 knots on the first day with biting cold, on the north much lighter than the second and finally in the sun with south wind again on the 11 knots on the final day.
From a competitive point of view, during  the second day a good challenge came on: if after the first day it seemed that the Norwegian Johan had no rivals considered the row of three firsts, in the second he was overbearing ahead the Czech Sivy, who in his once with three first he passed it. But the Norwegian reacted well to the attack and on the last day he gain scored three firsts, which allowed him to overtake and beat by 1 point the opponent, who in the third day in his own battery had closed with two first and a second.
The Danish Anna Livbjerg was decidedly strong, maintaining the third position overall, without being reached by the opponents of the men's category, who have lost ground in terms of points. The Dane preceded on the podium of the category the compatriot Bentzen (thirteenth overall) and the Spanish Llargués (28th). Good comeback by the Italian Francesco Zugna (CDV Muggia), who, thanks to a good third partial win on the second day, had climbed to fifteenth place; with the last day he lost some points but still ended up in an excellent seventeenth place overall. "I am very satisfied with how this twenty-first edition of the Meeting Europa has gone - commented the President CVTorbole Montagni - the conditions have been various and the FIV Race Committee chaired by Pietro Benamati has worked well to be able in some cases to follow the oscillations of the wind and then move the race course or reduce the path when the wind has dropped in the second day. All the logistics and ground organisation also went very well.
