CVT Reaches the Top in Europe

A prestigious double result for CVT, which was in the spotlight over the same weekend on two major international sailing stages. On one side, the Waszp racing team competed in Campione at the Eurocup; on the other, CVT member Sergio Lambertenghi, sailing alongside Diego Negri, competed at the Star Class European Championship in Medemblik, the Netherlands.

A weekend that confirms the club’s particularly positive momentum, following its success in Spain in July, where Elisa Bombana was crowned Waszp European Champion.

From Campione to Medemblik: CVT Reaches the Podium in Both Competitions

From August 28 to 30, the CVT Waszp team competed in Campione over three intense days of racing. The schedule included a Course race on the first day, Slalom on the second, and, on the final day, a Long Distance race followed by another Course race.

The results confirmed the team’s excellent form.

In the 6.9 category, Elisa Bombana was once again a leading performer. Following her European title won in Spain, she achieved another prestigious victory, finishing 1st Overall and 1st Female.

Alberto Mantovani also delivered an excellent performance, finishing 4th Overall. Among the U15 sailors, Daniel Castaldi took 6th Overall and 1st U15, while Lorenz Fenkart finished 8th Overall and 2nd U15. Also making the top ten was Jacopo Lorenzo Frassine, who finished 9th Overall.

In the 7.5 category, Olivia Castaldi achieved an impressive 2nd Overall finish. In the 8.2 category, two more important results came from Luca Franceschini, 6th Overall and 2nd U19, and Jacopo Travaini, 7th Overall and 3rd U21.

While the young members of the Waszp team were competing in Campione, more than a thousand kilometres away in the Netherlands, another crew linked to CVT brought the club onto a European podium.

In Medemblik, CVT member Sergio Lambertenghi, sailing with Diego Negri, competed in the Star Class European Championship, securing an outstanding 2nd place in the European Championship and 3rd place Overall.

A highly valuable result achieved in a class with a long-standing tradition and an exceptionally high technical level, adding further prestige to CVT’s impressive record.

Two regattas, two classes, two countries, and one common denominator: CVT.

The weekend of August 28–30 provides a particularly significant snapshot of the club’s current standing: in Campione, a young and rapidly developing team capable of achieving victories and podium finishes in the Waszp class; at the same time, in the Netherlands, a club member stood on the podium at the Star European Championship.

A double European achievement that once again takes the CVT colours to the top of international sailing.
