Perfect conditions with "vinessa" wind - more than 20 knots. At the end of October grand finale with the Halloween Cup
After eight challenging races, the 15th Wagner Cup-6th Trofeo Bertamini
- a classic event at the beginning of October organized by Circolo Vela Torbole
on Lake Garda Trentino - has come to an end. The event is reserved for the
fascinating Dragon class, which next week will celebrate its 90th anniversary
with the “90th Dragon Anniversary Regatta" in Sanremo.
The first two days the weather-conditions were hard with wind even higher than
20 knots and formed wave. The first day was the most spectacular with clear
skies and a strong north winds in the morning. Shortly after the fall of the
wind from the north, the opposite wind entered powerfully.
Since the first races the Russian crew formed by Samokhin-Kirilyuk-Harsberg has
not missed a test and with a succession of three first, a second, two third and
a fourth (with discarded the last test in which they did not start) has quietly
won the event with 7 points ahead of the Germans Nicola Friesen-Borkowski-Hoesch.
To further 9 points there were other Germans on board of “Ingrind" with Dirk
Pramann at the helm together with Markus Koy and the Olympic Fredrik Lööf (1
gold and two bronze Star class respectively in London, Sydney and Beijing). At
Circolo Vela Torbole the season continues with the Seascape Cup next weekend
and especially the Halloween Cup of the Optimist class at the end of October, a
closing in the name of the very young, who last year found themselves in over
400 for a grand finale.
