Lupo Cup 420 Class, day 1
News and Communications
A regatta to celebrate 30 years of the Bayerischer Yacht Club at Circolo Vela Torbole. Three races in optimum wind conditions of 8-12 knots.
Three fine races opened the first edition of the Lupo Cup, a 420 regatta organised by Circolo Vela Torbole under delegation from the Italian Sailing Federation, celebrating 30 years of training for the Bayerischer Yacht Club teams with coach Ilja Wolf (Lupo) at Circolo Vela Torbole. The wind from the south, initially weak, has spread well in the race course positioned for the 420 fleet, with almost 60 boats at the start. The presence was almost exclusively German, given that the event was designed to celebrate the twinning between Circolo Vela Torbole and the German Yacht Club and that the regatta also serves as a selection for the top class championships; in the top 10 there was also a crew from Hong Kong, evidently in Italy to train before the 420 World Championship in Sanremo (2-10 July). In the lead is Severin Gericke-Schwarz Xaver, although they are tied with the Hong Kong mixed crew Jacobsen-Duncan; Lanzinger-Steinlein, first in race 2, are third on 4 points. Eleventh place goes to the Italians Pourschè-Coslovich (SN Pietas Julia). The event continues until Sunday.
