Stellar podium at Circolo Vela Torbole: at the Italian Open Moth Championship, an Australian double with the two Olympic and America's Cup champions Iain Jensen and Tom Slingsby The helmsman of Luna Rossa Francesco Bruni, third open, wins the Italian Moth title; second and third place goes to Ruggero Tita and Francesco Bianchi, respectively.

At Circolo Vela Torbole has just concluded the Italian Open Championship of the small flying foil monohull Moth with a technical level that was star-studded to say the least: Olympic gold medals, America's Cup and Prada Cup winners, multiple world champions of various classes, including Moth. The three days were very challenging for the fleet, which in the first two days encountered important wind and wave conditions, while on the third and final day the Race Committee decided to start the remaining three races in the morning, hoping for a north wind and above all flat water, ideal conditions for the Moths to fly. A change of condition, but that did not give great shocks to the overall open ranking, keeping in the top positions the super champions, who for some years now have been sailing only on foils, between Sail GP, America's Cup and Moth. Open victory for the Olympic champion of the 49er skiff Iain Jensen, by only one point ahead of the other Australian Laser gold medalist Tom Slingsby, winner of an America's Cup and protagonist in the catamarans of the Sail GP circuit (of which a stage has just ended in Taranto), connoisseur of Garda Trentino, since here he prepared the Olympics won in London. The new Italian star Francesco Bruni, after making the Italians dream in the America's Cup and gaining the Prada Cup, held his own against the other champions, winning the Italian Moth title and the third step of the podium in the open classification. Behind him, in the ranking valid for the Italian Championship, second step of the podium for the Trentino Ruggero Tita, who took a break from the Olympic Nacra 17, before focusing on the Tokyo Olympics, in which he will participate in pair with Caterina Banti. In third place Francesco Bianchi, protagonist of a great recovery in the last day with less wind (2-3-4 the last partials). At Circolo Vela Torbole, after this event that has attracted the big names of world sailing, some of whom are an example for many young people who have become their fans, the next event on the program will be the early summer regatta dedicated to the youngest, the Optimist d'Argento, which will take place from June 24 to 26.
